    • Full Obituary

Kent A. Knebel, 61, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

He was born on November 6, 1962, in Highland, IL, to Maurice J. and Karen A. (nee Zobrist) Knebel. On June 19, 1993, he married Cheryl Hug at The Clubhouse in Jamestown, IL.

Kent has lived in the Pierron area his entire life and graduated from Highland High School in 1980. He worked on the family dairy farm with his father until the 90’s when he took over and converted to grain and cattle. For the last 20 years, Kent has owned and operated Franks Septic Service.

He greatly enjoyed music, especially the K-SHE-95 classics on Sunday mornings. Kent was an expert at playing pool, liked going fishing, and hunting-taking trips to Colorado every year. He loved watching sports on TV and coached his boy’s baseball and football teams.

Kent led a simple life. A jokester at heart, he was always playing fun little pranks on his friends and family. Kent was a social butterfly, always stopping to talk to people while he was out and about. He was big hearted, free spirited, and a very proud father.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen A. Knebel; father-in-law, Oscar Hug; sister-in-law, Holly Miles; and nephew-in-law, Kannon Miles.

Kent is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cheryl Knebel, Pocahontas, IL; twin sons, Dylan Knebel, Highland, IL, Colten Knebel, Highland, IL; father, Maurice J. Knebel; mother-in-law, Mary Sue Hug; siblings, Kelly (Rodney) Knackstedt, Kerri (Todd) Reilson, Kem Knebel; nieces and nephews, Crystal (Ryan) Haselhorst, Jeremiah (Amy) Knackstedt, Briana (Jesse) Eller, Colby (Olivia) Reilson, Clint (Amanda) Reilson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark (Jacki) Hug, Jenny (Mike) Smargiassi, Kevin Miles; nieces and nephews-in-law, Melissa Hug, Brooke Hug, Tricia Hug, Jacob Willis, Cameron Willis, Kaiden Miles, Avery Miles; several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Cheryl Knebel.

My condolence to the family I have good memory of Kent and the rest of the family, As we go back a long ways,, As we used to all talk and joke at the basketball games and when we met on the streets. Great times they were too.
