Kenneth R. “Shorty” Childerson, 76, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at his residence.
Shorty was born June 29, 1935 to Oren and Edna (nee Gaffner) Childerson in Clinton County, IL, near Beaver Prairie.
Shorty was a member of Operating Engineer Local 520, and to the Laborers Local. He was an avid Hunter and fisherman. He dearly loved taking his siblings and nieces and nephews and neighbors’ children hunting and fishing, including hunting for turtles. He was formerly active in the Highland Historical Society. He also enjoyed reading.
He is survived by 4 sisters, Betty Koch, Highland, IL, Rita Pellazari, Granite City, IL, Jane Childerson, Cahokia, IL, June Chiderson, Highland, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Caroline Childerson, Highland, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Natasha and Ronald Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Edna Childerson; 3 brothers, Veryl, Wayne, and Elvin Childerson; 2 sisters, Donna Boaz, Shirley Childerson.
