    Katherine A. Painter, 89, of Highland, IL, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, at Highland Health Care Center.

    She was born March 4, 1932, to James and Anna (nee Florian) Mahramas, in Cannonsburg, PA. On June 7, 1959, she married Leo B. Painter, in Cannonsburg.

    Katherine was born and raised in Pennsylvania, a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Cannonsburg, PA.

    She was a proud mother and grandmother, often referred to as Yia Yia by her granddaughters. Katherine was a dedicated follower of all her family’s sporting events. When Harry was growing up, she was a neighborhood mom to his friends. Lovingly referred to as “Mrs. P.”, she was often found making eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy for them on many weekend mornings. Katherine also enjoyed crocheting whenever she could.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Mahramas; husband, Leo Painter; brother, Michael J. Mahramas; sister-in-law, Helen Mahramas; nephew, Theodore Mahramas.

    Katherine is survived by her son, Harry (Lee Ann) Painter, Highland, IL; granddaughters, Shayna L. (fiance’, Tyler Becker) Painter and Kallie A. Painter; siblings, George Mahramas, Sylvia “Beb” Mahramas, Jack (Nancy) Mahramas, and Donald Mahramas; many nieces and nephews.

    Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
