Kateri M. “Katie” Hereford, 22, of O’Fallon, IL, formerly of Highland, passed away Monday October 17, 2022, at her home.
Katie was born January 7, 2000, to Judy Luechtefeld, in Michigan. She met the love of her life in Joseph Worthen, and they were engaged to be married.
She grew up in the Highland area, attending St. Paul elementary, where she played the saxophone in the band. She graduated from Highland High School in 2018. Katie moved to O’Fallon about a year ago.
Katie was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and painting, especially painting scenery, and animals. Her favorite artist was Vincent Van Gogh. She was very bright and had a great love of learning; always wanting to learn more. Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing were a few of her favorite video games. Katie was an avid reader, with a special interest in mystery and horror novels, she loved to be outside and admire the stars. Her pets meant a lot to her, Ryder; her dog, Zelda; her cat, and her beloved pet turtle, Skittles who had passed away; she adored animals.
Katie was always observant to everything around her, very caring and sensitive to people’s feelings. A bright spirited young woman with a heart of gold. The best mother in the world; she loved being a mom to her son, Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Judith Hereford, Daniel Heidbrink; brother, Graham Hereford.
Katie is survived by her son, Matthew Worthen; fiance’, Joseph Worthen; mother, Judy Hereford; grandmother, Margie Heidbrink; siblings, Paul (Amanda) Hereford, Monica (Josh) Berneking, Zachary (Megan) Hereford, Tony Hereford, Nicole Guetterman, Aly Hereford, Justin Robitsch, Derick Oceng, Kenny Simmons, and Timmy Simmons; nephews, Caleb Carter, Cyles Smith, P.J. Hereford, Andrew Hereford; many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.
Memorials may be made to Joseph Worthen, for her son Matthew, or in the form of Masses.
