    Karen Ann Sanders passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Evansville, IN. She was born on February 19, 1947 in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (Lawrence) Spurling. She married Gary Sanders on September 6, 1969 at the Pleasant Grove Church.

    Karen was a cook for many years, working at West Salem Manor and Casey’s. She also worked at Thordason Meisners. She enjoyed gardening, mowing, doing word search puzzles, and going out to eat. She was a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Karen mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

    She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Gary; two daughters: Pamela (David) Schwarzlose and Lisa (Randy) Hancock. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Joshua, Jacey, Jayla, Jordan, and Jaden Schwarzlose, and Rhett and Gracelyn Hancock; and one sister, Becky Dicus.

    Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem. Funeral will be Thursday, August 22 at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will follow in the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.

    Memorials may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, and envelopes will be available at the service.

    Karen was my landlady for over 6 years. She was a wonderful lady. She will be missed by her family, and many friends. Gary our prayers are with you and the family.
