JOYCE LEE MADDING, 88, of Mt. Erie, passed away on March 27, 2019, at Cisne Health and Rehab.
Joyce was born on March 19, 1931, to James Samuel and Hazel (Trotter) Shannon at their home in Massilon Township. She was united in marriage to Conrad Madding on May 27, 1952, at Joyce’s Home.
Joyce worked at Champion Laboratories in the office for 35 years and retired in 1999.She was also a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved working alongside her husband on the farm with livestock and cattle. She took joy in attending church.
Joyce was a member of the West United Methodist Church in Mt. Erie.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Conrad; daughter, Janice L. (Stanley) Brown of Cisne; sons, William Noel (Wanda) Madding of Mt. Erie, and Edward A. (Julie) Madding of Fairfield, daughter-in-law, Juanita Madding of Albion; grandchildren, Rachel (Lukas) Madding Rodgers of Mt. Erie, Leah (Nathan) Madding Sample of Ellery, Jayden Brown of Cisne, and Macey Madding of Scottsdale, AZ; step-grandchildren, Amanda McKee, Kimberley VanMatre and Steven Vallette all of Albion; great-grandchildren, Ty Sample, Caleb Sample, Tessa Rodgers, Keegan Moore, Kaylie Vallette, Ashton Vallette, Kylar VanMatre, Kalesi Vallette, Easton Vallette, Kaitlyn Inglis, Ashlyn Inglis, and Riley McKee; five sisters, Gladys Lambrich of Glen Carbon, Mary Lou Simpson of Fairfield, Marjorie A. (James) Hedrick and Betty Enlow, both of Mt. Erie, and Peggy Watson of Edwardsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, David Madding.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at 2 pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at McKendree Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Cisne Health and Rehab Fundraiser for the new sit to stand equipment and will be accepted at the funeral home.
