    Josephine Ann "Josie" Schleper, nee Rehkemper, 88, of Highland, IL, born August 4, 1920, in Rural St. Rose, IL to Henry H. and Anna H, nee Schoenefeld, Rehkemper, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.

    Mrs. Schleper enjoyed quilting, playing cards and playing bingo at every opportunity.  Her employment over the years, she sewed for EdKo Enterprises,  was custodian for St. Paul Catholic School.   She retired February, 1986 from Arrow Group in Breese.  Then did housekeeping for many, and also worked from home quilting and doing sewing projects.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony John "Tony" Schleper whom she married on April 22, 1941 in St. Rose, IL and who died July 22, 1958;  her parents, sisters and brothers - Regina (Art) Klostermann; Elizabeth "Betty" (Paul) Holtgrave; Edward "Ed" (josephine) Rehkemper; Joseph Reidelberger;  Bernadine (Oliver) Emig;  Al (Evelyn) Schleper;  Herman Schleper;  George Schleper;  Agnes Schleper and Arnold Hilmes, Sr;  Grandchild Natasha Schleper (1983) and Great Grandchild Greg Bolton (1985).

    Surviving Children:  Dee (Russ) Singler; Sr. Loretta Schleper PHJC;  Gervase (Mary) Schleper;  Jerome (Linda)  Schleper;  James (Sandra) Schleper;  Mary (Mike) Dondero-Rapien.

    14 Grandchildren - Gene (Carman) Jansen;  Glenda (Jack) Newcomb;  Gary Jansen & girlfriend Donna Kalmer;  Gale Brink;  Tina Schleper;  Tim (Lorien) Schleper;  Joseph (Amy) Schleper;  Lori (Terry) Self;  Jannifer (Craig) Literski;  Niki (Andrew) Becker;  Natalie Schleper fiance Earl Ehley;  Steve Dondero;  Angie Dondero and Rachel Dondero.   23 Great Grandchildren;  10 Great, Great Grandchildren;  Siblings Veronica "Ronnie"  Reidelberger,  Wilhelmina (Paul) Uhring;  Ferdinand (Mary) Rehkemper;  Inlaws - Christine Hilmes;  Sr. Teresa Schleper PHJC;  Sr. Georgine Schleper PHJC; and Albert Schleper.

    MEMBERSHIPS:  St. Paul Church, Highland, IL;  St. Anne's Altar Society.

    ARRANGEMENTS:  Mass of Christian Burial - Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. - St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL with Fr. Aloysius Ndeanaefo, Parachial Vicar.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Highland, IL.

    VISITATION:  Monday, July 6 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. @ Meridith Funeral Home, P.C. and Tuesday, July 7, from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M.
