    John W. Grob, 80, of Lebanon, IL, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family.

    John was born August 15, 1931, to John E. and Artimesia “Artie” (nee Watkins) Grob at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. On August 7, 1953 he married Constance Parrish at the United Methodist Church, Chester, IL.

    John was a United Methodist Minister for more than 40 years. He was a member of Southern Illinois Conference of United Methodist Church, now called Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Rotary International. John enjoyed spending his summers at his summer home in Bay View, MI since 1967. He attended Greenville College for 2 years before transferring to McKendree College, Lebanon, IL, where he met his future wife and they graduated together in 1953. He was an avid McKendree University sports fan and loved St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.

    He is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” Grob, Lebanon, IL; 2 sons, John Andrew Grob, Louisville, KY, Paul (Becky) Grob, Lebanon, IL; 2 grandchildren, Zach Grob, Parker Grob; 2 nieces, Barb (Dale) Berry, Brenda (Todd) Grigg.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Artimesia Grob; his sister, Carolyn Bowyer.

    Memorials may be made to 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL, or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

    Visitation: Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, December 23, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral: Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL
