      John W. Bohnstadt, 81, of Maryville, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital, surrounded by his family.

      He was born March 11, 1941, in Michigan City, IN, to Raymond and Elizabeth (nee VanBreeman) Bohnstadt. He married the love of his life, Diane Wsiaki on May 12, 1962, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, in Michigan City, IN.

      John was born and raised in Michigan City, IN. He and Diane both graduated from Elston High School in 1959. He worked as a terminal manager for BE-MAC Trucking Company which brought him and his family to St. Louis in 1985, where they settled into their home in Maryville, IL.

      John was an avid bowler and a secretary of multiple leagues. Diane, Terry, and Tammy were also on other leagues, and they enjoyed bowling together. He also loved spending time outdoors gardening, golfing, and fishing with his son and grandson. He was a handyman and could fix or refurbish just about anything. John also loved to cook for his family, and regularly hosted holiday dinners which everyone looked forward to attending. He was a treasured husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Bohnstadt; and sister, Diane (Vic) Fedele.

      John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diane Bohnstadt; children, Terry Bohnstadt, Tammy Bohnstadt; former daughter-in-law, Janet Bohnstadt; grandchildren, Melanie (Marcus) Tuttle, John T. Bohnstadt; great-grandchild, Quentin Tuttle; sisters, Marcia Tonner, Alice Ford.

      A Celebration of Life will be held privately by the family at a later date.

      Diane, I am so sorry to learn the passing of my friend and former customer at Metal Exchange Corporation. We had some good times together at lunch, golf, and Cardinal Baseball games. I wish I had known of his passing earlier. You have my deepest sympathy.
