    John R. Sussenbach, 86, of Old Ripley, IL, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at his home with his wife of 62 years by his side.

    He was born August 29, 1924 to Walter and Winnifred (nee O’Byrne) Sussenbach in the Shawnee Area of Old Ripley Township, Bond County.  On March 25, 1949 he married Deloris Caulk at Grantfork United Church of Christ.

    John was a member of Old Ripley Church of Christ.  He was a very kind person and a very hard worker.  He liked to work in the garden.

    He is survived by his wife, Deloris Sussenbach, Old Ripley, IL; 1 grandchild, Rande Sussenbach; 1 great-grandchild, Brianna Sussenbach; 1 sister, Donna (William) Cook; 1 brother, Glenn Sussenbach; many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Winnifred Sussenbach; 1 son, Lanny Sussenbach, who died May 13, 1997; 4 sisters, Faye, Lucille, Sarah, and Charlene; 2 brothers, Marion and Harry Sussenbach.

    The family has 3 charitable organizations (memorials) in mind; please make donations payable to the family to distribute.

    Visitation: Sunday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.
