John L. “Jack” Parker, 78, of St. Jacob, IL, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on December 6, 1942 to Chester and Mahala (nee Hill) Parker in Granite City, IL. He met the love of his life, Martha Monroe, on May 20, 1962, and they married two years later, on January 25, 1964, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Lebanon, IL. They celebrated 50 years of marriage, before Martha passed in 2014.
Jack retired from a career in Hospital Maintenance, was a volunteer firefighter in Summerfield, IL, and worked for St. Jacob Park in the maintenance dept. He had his own craft business, “Parker’s Crafts”, where he created hand-crafted, woodworking projects and sold them at craft shows. He loved being outdoors and doing yard work; but his favorite thing in life, was being a grandpa.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mahala Parker; the love of his life, his wife, Martha Parker; siblings, Bonnie Eastman, Ted Parker, and Lenora Cowen.
He is survived by his children, Angie (Tim) Lawson, St, Jacob, IL, Jack (Kelly) Parker, Highland, IL, and Ed (Danielle) Parker, Vandalia, IL; grandchildren, Nicole (Scott) Baquet, Savannah (Casey) Jensen, Chelsea (Joe) Moore, Aaron (Danielle) Pinkel, Nicole (Matt Grolemund) Lawson, Cody Lawson, Brianna Parker, Jacob Parker, Kyndall Parker; great grandchildren, Dominick Baquet, Elora Jensen, Baby Girl Jensen due in November, and Lilyahna, Juliette, and Memphis Pinkel; sister, Marilyn Lackey; many nieces and nephews; and special childhood friend, Walker “Doug” (Kathy) Malone.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 9:00 to 10:00am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
