JERRY LEE SAMFORD, 81, of the Enterprise Community went to be with the Lord at 10:40pm on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Jerry was born February 14, 1939, at Cisne, Illinois to Kenneth and Berniece (McCracken) Samford. Jerry graduated from Cisne High School in 1957. He joined the US Army in 1957 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo and served eight years in the National Guard.  He was a self- employed carpenter and business owner.

Jerry was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church and the Flora American Legion.

Jerry loved to garden and spent the past few summers doing Farmer’s Market in area towns selling fresh produce.  He loved people, never met a stranger and was a very friendly person.  He loved his family and the many fun things he enjoyed doing with them like hunting (especially quail), fishing, playing games like Pinochle and Mexican Dominoes, going to ballgames, school functions, birthday parties, and church programs and services.  He will be deeply missed by all of them who loved him so much.

Jerry is survived by a daughter Teresa (Dale) Troyer of Geff, Illinois and a son Kenny (Lee Ann) Samford of Cisne, Illinois; six grandchildren Daniel (Carissa) Troyer of Ellery, Illinois, Brandon (Amy) Troyer of Marshfield, Missouri, Travis (Emily) Troyer of Geff, Illinois, Amanda (David) Hutchcraft of Cisne, Illinois, Vince (Kim) Samford of Niles, Michigan and Sarah Stover of Clay City, Illinois and thirteen great grandchildren; Paul and Phyllis Ulrich and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Betty Keoughan and Louise Powell.

Graveside service will be 2:30pm Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery at Fairfield, Illinois.  Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Safe Haven Bible Center and will be accepted at the cemetery or can be dropped off at the funeral home or mailed to Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home, P. O. Box 418, Cisne, IL 62823.
