Jeffrey L. “Jeff” Holzinger, 58, of Highland, IL, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, with his wife by his side.

He was born November 6, 1963, to Laverne “Butch” and Sharon (nee Landolt) Holzinger, in Highland, IL.  On June 7, 2003, he married Jennifer Cable in Trenton, IL.

He was a member of Mosaic Church, Highland, IL.  Jeff was an avid bowler; bowling in leagues throughout the years.  He also worked as a flagman at Highland Speedway in his younger days.

Above all Jeff put his family first, playing catch or practicing baseball with his sons, attending the boys’ sporting events; watching them play baseball. An honest, hardworking man, Jeff was dedicated to his wife and sons.  He was a huge Nascar fan and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.  Jeff enjoyed a good card game; with spades and euchre being his favorite, playing cards all night after Christmas.

Jeff was always kind and fun loving. At our Wesclin High School reunion a few years ago, he went out of his way to make my husband feel welcome. It was so thoughtful because Jeff recognized that my husband needed a friend in a sea of unfamiliar faces. Jeff was the kind of guy who was a friend when you needed him. And most importantly, he made my friend Jenny’s life meaningful, beautiful, and happy. Their marriage and family is a model of goodness for us all. I am so grateful for the chance to have spent time with them and their sweet boys. This is such sad news, he will be so missed, and I am sending you our love, strength, and courage.

    Jen, Connor and Tyler,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences. May all the wonderful moments and memories you have created together as a family help fade some of the immense pain. Someone told us this saying
Those we love do not go away,
they are walking beside us everyday
    Unseen, unheard, but always near,
    So loved, so very dear.
Thinking of you and sending you prayers for comfort.

A lot of good memories…. from when we were very young at our grandparents being rowdy; to a lot of laughs in our high school years playing pranks. All of us cousins having a blast,….your laugh always made us all laugh that much more. I could tell so many stories, but I don’t want to give either of our boys any ideas, LOL! We did a lot of things growing up, right or wrong! Your legacy will live on in Tyler and Connor. Rest In Peace Cousin. —-Dewey

  7. Dale Holzinger / October 6, 2022 at 9:28 am

I wish I was a few years older, as I am a little jealous of the numerous stories and experiences I have always heard that always involve the fun, playful, and a little mischievous, occurrences between my brothers and Jeff that usually ended with the classic Jeff giggle. Fortunately for me, being so much younger, I got to enjoy not being the brunt of the jokes, but enjoy laughing at the jokes while also seeing the protective, friendly, loving person that is just as important to his personality. Whether I saw him at soccer practices for our boys, family functions, at the race track or car shows and all walks between, Jeff treated me as an equal as though I grew up with him like my brothers. He taught me the worm on the dance floor, despite me being the young, annoying little cousin; that didn’t matter to him. Rest In Peace Jeff, you’re going to have a great view of your Cardinals in the playoffs; as you’re now one of them. As the saying goes, when a Cardinal is present an Angel is near. Your family now has another Cardinal looking over to guide them through life. Rest In Peace Jeff.

  8. Uncle Sylvester Aunt Della Gene / October 6, 2022 at 2:31 pm

When at the gates, there is no doubt that Grandma and Grandpa, Dean, Fremont, Wil, and all the cousins were standing with the Lord saying welcome, with open arms. No more physical pain. We’re sure Jeff and them are probably tinkering around on some car or tractor, playing cards, bowling or watching a good ball game or race, while catching up and looking over and protecting family and friends.

Jen, Tyler, Connor, Butch and Sharon,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    Uncle Silver and Aunt Della
