Jean Chalcraft, 94, passed on July 9, 2024, at her daughter’s residence in Dawson, Illinois.

She was born on September 17, 1929, in Bellmont, Illinois, to Virgil and Esther (Kern) Berry. Jean married Elmer Chalcraft on February 14, 1948 in Olney, Illinois and they enjoyed over 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2014.

Jean was a member of the Ellery Christian Church in Ellery, Illinois. She was also a lifetime member of the Olney Post 4226 VFW Women’s Auxiliary and a volunteer at the VA Clinic in Marion, Illinois. Her favorite thing was being a farmwife and mother.

She is survived by her five children David Chalcraft, Anita (Lewis) Blackford, Gary (Cathy) Chalcraft, Lyndell Chalcraft, and Janet Blankenship. She also has six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer; two brothers Richard Berry and Rex Berry; grandchildren Lisa McCormick, Lyndell Wayne Chalcraft Jr., and Kaleigh Renee Chalcraft; and one great grandchild, Emma Faye Chalcraft.

Visitation for Jean Chalcraft will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Albion, Illinois.

Ingram Meridith Funeral Home of Albion is assisting the family with arrangements.
