Janice Katherine Hug, 75, of Highland, IL died Friday, February 19, 2010 at her home.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. February 25, 2010, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery.
After graduating from Highland High she worked for the News Leader and then for Eastern Airlines for over 30 years, the last 20 in Atlanta, GA.
After retirement she returned to Highland and owned a partnership in Travel Center and then worked for Travel One.
She was secretary for the Highland Women’s Club and past secretary of BPW. She did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and the Highland Animal Shelter. She also was an election judge. She belonged to 3 card clubs.
Jan loved to travel and took her parents all around the world. She was a talented painter and avid reader and wrote a children’s book. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and candy making for her family and friends. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting.
Survivors include 2 brother’s: Keith D. (JoAnn) Hug, Highland, IL, Oscar W. (MarySue) Hug, Highland, IL; 2 nephews: Mark D. (Jacki) Hug, Highland, IL, John M. Hug, Highland, IL; 6 nieces: Linda M. (J.C.) Bean, Taylor Ridge, IL, Laurie A. Hug, Osage Beach, MO, Cheryl A. (Kent) Knebel, Pocahontas, IL, Lisa J. (James) Brave, Highland, IL, Holly S. (Kevin) Miles, Highland, IL, Jenny L. Willis, Highland, IL; 19 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her family and friends, especially her beloved Erusla and Clarence.
