    Janet Brooks, 72, of Belleville, Illinois, died Saturday, August 31, 2019, at her residence, with her family by her side.

    Janet was born October 10, 1946, to Robert and Mae Lee (nee Hibbler) Edwards in Venice, Illinois.

    Janet was a Lebanon City Council member; a proud member of Pentecostal Power Church in Lebanon, missionary there as well.  She was a devout foster parent throughout the years to many troubled kids.  She loved to cook and entertain people in her home and always looked forward to family events. Janet cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

    Janet leaves to cherish her fond memories, her two sons, Mr. Michael (Julie Wilderman) Brooks, New Athens, IL, and Mr. Wesley (Tiffany) Brooks, Belleville, IL; four grandchildren, Jada Holloway, Tyson Wilderman, Casey Wilderman, and Carter Wilderman; three sisters, Evangelist Doris Jean Edwards of Lebanon, IL, Evangelist Delorice Edwards of Belleville, Mrs. Brenda Ledet of Louisiana; two brothers, Mr. Robert Edwards, Jr. of Mascoutah, IL and Mr. Sylvester Edwards of New Orleans, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews, other loving family members, and very special friends.

    She was preceded in death by her Father, Bishop Robert Edwards, Sr., Mother, Mae Lee Hibbler; Mother Mother Ruth Ann Edwards; Brother Emmit Edwards, E. St. Louis, IL; Sister, Ruth Ann Edwards, Lebanon, IL and Darlene Baker, Madison, IL

    Visitation:  Monday, September 9, 2019, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at Pentecostal Power Church, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral Service:  Monday, September 9, 2019, 11:00 am, at Pentecostal Power Church, Lebanon, IL.

    Clergy:  Bishop Charles Bennett.

    Interment:  College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL

    Meridith Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL

    Wesley and Mike,

    Though we have lost contact over the years, I saw with sadness the passing of your mother. She was always nice to me when we were young, always laughing, always a smile. Cherish those memories of her. Please accept my condolences on her passing. God bless you both.
