    James H. Jackson, 82, of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 30, 2019 at home with his family by his side.

    James was born March 1, 1937, to Harold and Hilda (nee Naab) Jackson, in Highland, IL.  On March 24, 1962, he married Carolyn Sue Sparks at Hope Lutheran Church, Highland, IL.

    He was a Member of the First Congregational Church, Highland, Illinois, as well as, a former member of the Highland Pistol & Rifle Club, a Mason and a Shriner.

    He loved cars, especially corvettes.  James loved working with wood; he enjoyed gun shows, knife shows, and going to garage sales and flea markets.  He was proud of being a boilermaker and talked of it many times.  He always had a story about something.  He loved his family, especially his granddaughter and great granddaughter.

    He is survived by his children, James A. Jackson, Highland, IL, and Connie (Ted) Zobrist, Highland, IL; granddaughter, Brittany R. (significant other, Junior Jackson) Zobrist; great grandchild, Ember Victoria Jackson; Nieces and Nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Jackson; parents, Harold and Hilda Jackson; sisters, Shirley Loomis and Gloria Carson.

    Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children’s Hospital or Highland Animal Shelter.

    Visitation:  Tuesday, September 3, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 8:00 to 10:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Funeral Service:  Wednesday, September 4, 2019, 10:00 am, Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Interment:  Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL.
