    Iola L. Ammann, nee Hommert, 88, of Highland, IL died January 25, 2009 at 11:45 p.m. at Faith Care Center, Highland, IL.   She was born in Edwardsville, IL on October 15, 1920 to Henry  and Selma (Buehnemann) Hommert.  She married

    Earl J. Ammann on August 15, 1939 in St. Louis, MO and he died May 26, 1993.

    Survived by:  five children - Dennis (Mary Lou) Ammann; Margo Ann (William) Schaefer;  Randy (Barbara) Ammann and Rick (Mary) Ammann all of Highland, IL and Sherri (Mike) Buxton of Peoria, IL; 12 Grandchildren - Christopher (Tammy) Ammann;  Sara (Brian) Knobloch;  Kevin Ammann;  Susan (Brad) Schaefer-Kronk;  Dr. John W. Schaefer;  Blake Ammann;  Paige Ammann;  Scott Ammann;  Michael Ammann;  Bryan (Erin) Klokkenga;  Ryan Buxton; and Paige Buxton;  3 Great Grandchildren - Megan Mae Kronk;  Christian Knobloch;  Adelyn Marie Klokkenga.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her parents, one brother, Alvin Hommert and one sister, Velma Hommert.

    She played the violin and piano in school; she loved to dance, and cook and visit with her family.   She was a homemaker and had also worked at several Highland stores as a clerk and cashier.   She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

    VISITATION:  Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Meridith Funeral Home in Highland, IL and on Friday, January 30 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Church.

    FUNERAL:  First Congregational Church, Highland, IL at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Maurice Smith, Pastor, officiating.  Burial in Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL.
