Holly Sue Miles, 48, of Highland, IL passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at Barnes Jewish (Siteman) Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born March 1, 1974, in Highland, IL, to Oscar and Mary Sue (nee Warning) Hug. Holly married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Miles, on September 25, 1999, in Highland, IL.

As a child, Holly was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts.  She attended Grantfork Elementary with her life-long bestie, Jody; a time she cherished.  She grew up camping, boating, and skiing with her family and their friends’ camping group S.C.C.A.  Throughout her life, Holly loved spending time with her family at the Hug Family clubhouse. During school, she played volleyball and was a cheerleader for the Grantfork Panthers, HJHS Bullpups and HHS Bulldogs.  In high school she was also very active in choir, spring musicals and competitive dance.  She even continued dance at the college level with a scholarship from her local dance studio.

Holly volunteered for many years at Camp H.I.S. K.I.D.S, as well as, Christmas parties, family bus trips to Branson, hospital clinic visits and other events serving children and families affected by childhood cancer.  Holly worked at Popeye’s Restaurant in high school, college and beyond; a job she dearly loved.  She graduated from SIUE in 1997, then worked for B-Line (Eaton) in Highland for 24 years in Customer Service and Inside Sales.

Holly attended Mosaic Church in Highland, IL, serving in the Sunday school room with her husband and kids, as well as, vacation bible school.  She was strong in her faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and clung to her faith always.  Holly made many friendships during her life and was loved by all.  She had an infectious smile, wonderful laughter and would hit you with her quick-witted sense of humor in a moment’s notice.  Above all, Holly loved her family.  Her husband Kevin was the love of her life and best friend, and they shared everything together. They enjoyed traveling, dining, family vacations, many beaches and spending time with family and friends.  Her number one pride and joy in life were her children, Kaiden, Avery and her little angel Kannon.  She cherished family trips and vacations with her kiddos.  She made every trip and outing memorable and special for them.  Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she poured her heart into Christmas for her family.  She was an amazing Football, Hockey, and Cheer Mom, encouraging and supporting her children in these activities, and many others.  She created many family picture albums, and albums for her children each year as keepsakes.  She was deeply loved and a treasure to her family.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Kannon Miles; father, Oscar Hug; sister-in-law, Marcia Miles; maternal grandparents, Eldo and Doris Wernle; paternal grandparents, Delburt (Debbie) and Cecelia Hug; grandmothers-in-law, Geneva Whitten and Ida Miles; aunt, Jan Hug; uncle, Keith (JoAnn) Hug.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Miles, Highland, IL; devoted son, Kaiden Miles and caring daughter, Avery Miles, both of Highland, IL; mother, Mary Sue Hug, Highland, IL; siblings, Cheryl (Kent) Knebel, Highland, IL, Mark (Jacki) Hug, Highland, IL, Jenny (Mike) Smargiassi, Highland, IL; father-In-law and mother-In-law, Jim Miles III and Connie Miles, Highland, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim (Shelly) Miles IV, Highland, IL, Tina Miles, Hillsboro, IL, Dawn (Dave) Parker, Marthasville, MO; nieces and nephews, Melissa Hug, Brooke Hug, Tricia Hug, Dylan Knebel, Colten Knebel, Jacob Willis, Cameron Willis, Mariah (Jesse) Adams, Payne Smargiassi, Tori (Coran) O’Dell, Caitlyn (Kenny) Voyles, Brandon (Taylor) Parker, Dylan Parker, Carson Parker, First Lt. To Mary Sue, Cheryl, Mark, and all the Hugs and family:
I’m just learning today (Wednesday) of your terrible loss. I remember meeting Holly when we all met up at my Grandma’s house in O’Fallon. What was it, about 1979 or so? She was 5 or so? And I saw her once more, years later at Popeyes. Such a lovely girl.
Such a sad thing for such a lovely person to be gone so young. I’m really sorry I missed her wake. My deepest condolences.

    Cousin Larry Wernle
