      Helen Joyce Balding, age 84, formerly of West Salem, IL, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in Prescott, AZ.

      Helen was born in rural West Salem on September 7, 1936, to Curma and Lucile (Yonaka) Hoeszle.  She married Nile Balding on June 26, 1955, at West Village Christian Church, Albion, IL.  They enjoyed 63 years together until his passing on August 20, 2018.

      Helen attended West Salem Grade School and graduated from Edwards County High School in 1954.  She and Nile traveled and lived throughout the United States and Europe with Nile’s career in the United States Air Force.  Upon retirement, they returned to rural West Salem.    They were active members of Faith Bible Church, Olney, IL.  Helen was director of the West Salem Senior Center for many years.  She enjoyed entertaining, working with her flower beds, hobbies, crafts and sewing.

      Helen is survived by daughters, Kathy (John) Gilligan of Scottsdale, AZ, and Joyce Balding of Byron, GA; grandchildren; John (Brittany)Gilligan, Jr., Mike (Lauren) Gilligan and Charisse (Michael) Rawls, and 5 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are brothers, Jim Hoeszle of Leesburg, FL, Terry (Joan) Hoeszle and Gary (Debbie) Hoeszle of West Salem, IL.

      Graveside service will be held at the Macedonia Cemetery (Mt. Erie road) on Saturday December 5th, 2020 at 1 p.m.

      Memorials are encouraged to the Macedonia Cemetery.

      Loved this lady with all my heart. She was a true blessing to work with and had the greatest laugh and no nonsense way about her. She definitely left a trail of kindness in her path. Her love for her family was something that was always in the forefront of her life.
