Hayden A. Konieczny, 10, of Lebanon, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO, to Ronald P. Konieczny and Anna L. Konieczny.

Hayden had the odds stacked against her from birth. Day by day she defied those odds and overcame her disabilities. Hayden always displayed strength, determination, lots of giggles and most importantly love. Every time they said she wouldn’t make it Hayden loved proving them all wrong. Hayden enjoyed so many things but some of the most special to her were time with her family getting all of her snuggles in, music on her Tonie Box, sitting at her siblings’ sporting events, going to the movies, and enjoying the outdoors and camping. Hayden was the light when the days looked dark. Even in her toughest of days she did it with a smile on her face. Although her life here was short, it was so full. Hayden touched so many lives with her contagious smile and fight for life.

Hayden’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Make A Wish Foundation, the BASSC Team, her Cardinal Glennon Teams – the Emergency Room Doctors/Nurses, the front desk ladies, Footprints, Complex Care, TCU, PICU, her hospice nurse, Janine, and her private nurses, Kim Eftink, and Lea Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her paternal great grandfathers, Fred Medler, Ronald Konieczny; maternal great grandfather, Henry Simpson; maternal great grandmother, Barbara Simpson; grandmother, Mary Williams; and aunt, Valarie Konieczny.

Hayden is survived by her father, Ronald P. (Bethany Williams) Konieczny; mother, Anna Konieczny; siblings, Wade Konieczny, Parker Konieczny, Kylie Depoorter, Charley Richter; paternal grandmother, Kathleen (Jim) Vanderpluym; paternal grandfather, Val Konieczny; maternal grandmother, Virginia Ann Simpson; maternal grandfather, James Simpson; paternal great grandmothers, Lois Medler, Mary Konieczny; grandparents, Gary (Carol) Williams; aunts and uncles, Russell (Sara) Konieczny, Margaret Samson, Robbie (Kristina) Adams, Becky (Dennis) Faust, Lisa (Kevin) Rogers; cousins, Valarie Konieczny, Emerson Konieczny, Asher Samson, Tiger Faust, Collin Adams; countless cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Horner Park, to go towards expanding the handicap accessible playground put in for Hayden. Venmo: @HornerPark

Hayden could light up a room with her wonderful smile and laughter. It was always a joy when Ron would have her in the shop when we were working on our cars.Such a sweet girl gone too soon.
