Glenn McDonald born January 7, 1927 to Gilbert and Grace McDonald (nee Schilling) in Tamm’s Illinois.

After moving with his family to Collinsville, Illinois he worked as a farmhand until he joined the United States Navy in 1943. After completing his initial recruit training at Great Lakes Naval base, he was transferred to Norfolk Virginia to complete his training as a Sea Bee. During this time, he was recruited into a newly formed Naval Warfare unit called the “Beach Jumpers”. Glenn’s service in the Navy included the invasion of Sicily and the Battle of Anzio. Glenn reenlisted in the Navy in 1945 and continued his service until 1947 when he was honorably discharged.

He married Alline Graham in May 1951 they raised 6 children. During that time Glenn coached his son Ed in Khoury League baseball.

Glenn loved to hunt raccoons and established the Kahok Redbone Kennels. Although he had many wonderful coonhounds, one would obtain World Champion status. Coon hunting was not only a source of joy for Glenn, but he also used the game as a source for food and would sell the hides to provide for his family. Anyone who knew Glenn would tell you that his face would light up when he talked about his hunts and his dogs. He not only trained dogs, but he also passed his knowledge of the sport on too many people.

After a serious auto accident in 1970 Glenn gave his life to Christ, which he continued until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents,2 wives Alline McDonald Nee Graham and Etta Alivern Hunter three children Kevin, Rea Gail and Steve, two grandchildren Erin and Corey Bowen. 1 great grandchild Emily Gustavsson. 2 Brothers Forrest and Howard (Hap) 4 Sisters Fern, Violet, Della, Reba

He is survived by a sister Bernice Burgess of Washington, a son Edward (Ed) and Christine McDonald of Rochester Michigan, daughter Carla and Bob Barrett (McDonald) of Pontoon Beach Illinois, and son Chris and Vicki McDonald of Smithton, Illinois, Daughter in laws Patty McDonald of Mitchell, Illinois, and Dianna McDonald of Langley, Virginia, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren #24 coming in March and 1 Great Great grandchild.
