      Glen Eugene Allen, 83, of Orchardville, Illinois passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois.

      Glen was born February 14, 1938, at Orchardville, Illinois to Roy and Luna (Slover) Allen.  He married Judy Lou Harrell July 10, 1959, at Orchardville, Illinois.

      Glen was a Carman-Welder for IC RR at Centralia, Illinois where he retired in January 2000.  He loved to fish and hunt.

      Glen Allen was well known in the area as a man who worked hard and had mechanical mind that could fix anything from a broken toy to chainsaws and lawnmowers to welding pieces of metal.  Glen met the challenges of many difficult jobs such as painting houses and barns to helping local farmers and Orchardville Grade School maintenance.

      To say that Glen was an avid outdoorsman is an understatement.  His passion was hunting quail and pond hopping for fish the area as well as bigger lakes like Newton.  THE JOY of his life were his grandsons.  He loved to build clubhouses and spent endless hours fishing with them.

      Glen is survived by his wife Judy Allen of Orchardville, Illinois; one son Shawn (Jena) Allen of Iuka, Illinois; one daughter-in-law Christy Allen of Herrin, Illinois; one sister Wanda Spears of Flora, Illinois; one sister-in-law Mary Ann Allen of Wayne City, Illinois and two grandchildren Cory and Jordan.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

      Preceding him in death were his parents, son Bart, brother Harold, brother-in-law Jim Spears, and sister Teresa.

      Cremation rites were accorded.  A private family service will be held later.

      Memorials may be given in memory of Glen Allen to Poplar Creek Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

      To the Family of Glen Allen: Judy and Family I am so sorry to see that your special loved one Glen has passed away. I know that all of you will miss her dearly but remember all the good times you had with him as the memories are so precious. May God bless each one of you at this time while you grieve and always. I remember going to church with
      Glen and his family. We know that Glen has been called home to a better place by his Heavenly Father and we know that his family and friends have welcomed him. Take good care of each other.
