    George Robert "Bob" Suydam, 87, of Lebanon, IL died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.  He was born November 3, 1922 in Canton, IL to Vernon and Hazel (nee Pippitt) Suydam.  He married Elizabeth Jean Lysakowski on August 21, 1946 in O'Fallon, IL.

    Bob worked in Civil Service for the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment specialist at both the Granite City Army Depot and for Mobility Equipment Command on Goodfellow in St. Louis, MO.  Bob was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Europe, the Philippines and North Africa.  He was a longtime member of Schuetz-Herman American Legion, Post 283, The Forty & Eight, The NRA Association and retired from the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department.

    Preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years; his parents, and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.

    Survivors include four sons - Jon R. (Pat) Suydam; David A. (Robin) Suydam, Keith E. (Lisa) Suydam, all of Lebanon, IL and William R. Suydam of Summerfield, IL;  One sister - Dorothy (John) Opper, Canton, IL; Six grandchildren - Gregg (Tiffany), Curtis, Amy, Brandi, Kyle and Ryan Suydam, Three step-grandchildren - Amber (Mike) Cutler, Ron (Angela) Christ and Autumn (Mike Schomaker, Three great grandchildren, Three step-great grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

    VISITATION:  Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Church.

    FUNERAL SERVICE:  Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at St. Paul UCC, Lebanon, IL at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Don Wagner, officiating with burial in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
