Genevieve C. “Jenny” Wallin, 90, of Lebanon, IL, died Friday, September 20, 2019, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Care in Lebanon, IL, with her family by her side.

Jenny was born August 11, 1929, to Herman and Clara (nee Isaak) Kuhl, in Beckemeyer, IL.  On October 20, 1956, she married Charles “Dutch” Wallin at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer, IL.

Jenny worked in Civil Service until Kathy was born.  She was a homemaker while raising Kathy and Tom in their younger years, then worked during their school years, as the playground and lunch supervisor for Lebanon Grade School.  She was very involved in the Lebanon Community, serving the Beautification Committee for many years, and was a member of the Garden Club.  Jenny was responsible for chairing the town’s annual Fall Festival for numerous years and she is remembered for the countless jars of apple butter she made.

As a member of St. Joseph Parish, she was a Eucharistic Minister, active in the Ladies Organization, and donated cross stitch quilt blocks for the Ladies Quilt group.  Annually, she cross stitched or embroidered a baby quilt top for the Drawdown.  She supported the Men’s Club Lenten Fish Fry by making the coleslaw from her own recipe.  From 1983-2010, Jenny worked with Dutch as Custodians for St. Joseph Parish, taking meticulous care of the Church and Parish Hall.  In her free time, Jenny enjoyed canning from her garden, baking and basket-weaving.  She was an expert seamstress, needled hardanger embroidery, and liked cross stitching; her hands were never idle.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Faust, Belleville and Tom (Julie) Wallin, Mascoutah; grandchildren, Tyler Wallin, Las Cruces and Ryley Wallin, Mascoutah; brother, Paul Kuhl, Bridgeton; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Clara Kuhl; husband, Charles “Dutch” Wallin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine (Wes) Ternoir, Joan (Bill) Warren; sister-in-law, Jackie Kuhl; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob (Vivian) Wallin; son-in-law, Larry Faust; a niece and a nephew.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
