    Gene L. Gray, 78 of Lebanon, IL, born March 17, 1930 in Lebanon, IL died April 4, 2008 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL with his family at his side.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lydia, nee Bittles, Gray, a brother James, and a sister, Lois.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lila, nee Ganz, Gray, whom he married on March 27, 1952, two sons, Jeff (Chris) and David (Cheryl) Gray, and a daughter Gina (Darin) Lee;  six grandchildren, Nicole and Lindsey Gray, Sarah and Rachel Gray, and Jackson and Danielle Lee;  a brother Carl (Flora) Gray, and a sister, Doris (John) Kues, nephews and nieces James (Kathi) Gray, Carla (James) Kelley, Ellen (Bob) Nuernberger, Tom (Tammy) Kues, and Tim (Terri) Kues.

    Gene started working for E&R Weber Plumbing, Heating and A/C in 1953 and in 1976 bought the business and owned and operated it until his retirement in 1992.
    Gene was intensely proud of his service to his country, and he was almost always seen in public wearing a black cap identifying him as a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army, 3rd Infantry.

    Visitation - 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 7th at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul UCC, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8th at the Church with the Rev. Dr. Don Wagner officiating.  Burial in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
