    Gary D. Gurley, 64, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital, emergency room, Highland, IL.

    Gary was born January 8, 1948, to Willis and Lyle (Nee Frost) Gurley, in Carbondale, IL.  On July 2, 1971, he married Karen L. Cravens in Carbondale, IL.

    He worked for Laidlaw Transportation for 35 years, working his way up to transportation manager.  He was a member of Highland Hope United Methodist Church, Highland, IL.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Carbondale, IL and Honda Goldwing Club.  He loved woodworking, motorcycles, and his family.

    He is survived by his wife, Karen L. Gurley, Highland, IL; 2 sons, Shawn (fiance’ Nikki Evans) Gurley, Highland, IL, Scott (Leslie) Gurley, Highland, IL; 4 grandchildren, Trey, Alexis, Logan, & Dalton; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Bernadine Wheetley, Willeen (Bill) Minor, Rick (Debbie) Gurley.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Lyle Gurley; 2 brothers, Larry, in infancy, and Willis Gene Gurley.

    Memorials may be made to Highland Hope United Methodist Church, Highland, IL.

    Memorial Visitation: Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
