      Franklin Delano Tanner, 83, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, July 4, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

      Franklin was born November 17, 1936, to William and Rosie (nee Qualls) Tanner in Howenwald, TN. Franklin married Gloria G. Perkins on May 5, 1956 in Holly Springs, MS. They were married for 59 years.

      Franklin was in the United States Air Force from January 4, 1954 until January 3, 1962 and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Highland VFW Post 5694.

      Franklin enjoyed his career as a mechanic and retired from Ryder. He loved going to the shooting range and had quite the gun collection. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Franklin was very dedicated to his wife, and was always there to provide for and take care of her.

      He is survived by his son, David (Faith) Tanner, Highland, IL; grandson, Josh Tanner; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Ann) Perkins, Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Diane Ewing, Bristol, TN.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosie Tanner; and wife, Gloria Tanner in March 2016.

      No services are scheduled.

      Interment: Franklin will be buried in Mississippi next to Gloria.
