    Francis Vernon Polette, 91, of Collinsville, IL, passed away June 30, 2021 at his residence.

    Francis was born February 5, 1930 to Martin and Emma (nee Portel) Polette in Granite City, IL.  He married Joan Bartos on March 12, 1960 in Collinsville, IL.  Francis and Joan were married 61 years and had two daughters, Laurie and Lynn.

    He served in the United States Navy, a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 35 years and was member of Brotherhood & Steamship Clerk Union.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Joseph and Emma Marie Polette; brother, Martin Harold Polette; sisters, Martha Mugridge, Mildred Kuhn, Hilda Jackson; brother-in-law, Willie Clay; son-in-law, Dean Woods.

    Francis is survived by his wife, Joan Polette; daughters, Laurie Woods and Lynn  (Allan) Bernhardt; sister, Gerry Graham; grandchildren, Melissa (Andy) Gaa, Amy (Brian) Courtwright, Taylor Woods and Ethan; great grandchildren, Karsten Gaa, Mia Gaa.

    A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, 10:00 am, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL.  Friends may call prior to the Mass, from 9:30 to 10:00 am.

    My sympathy to your family. Francis was a faithful husband and Catholic. He loved his Lord to the end. He always had an hello for everybody. I apologize for being unable to attend.
