      Frances J. Beichel, 94, of Highland died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Highland Healthcare Center, Highland, IL.

      Mr. Beichel was born in St. Louis, MO on November 5, 1917 to Frank J. and Wilhelmina (nee Sinz) Beichel.  On June 21, 1941 he married Naomi F. Hobbs in St. Charles, MO.  He grew up in St. Louis and later he and his parents moved to Highland, IL.

      He graduated from Highland Public School in 1933.  He completed his high school education later through the G.E.D. program.  He worked at Wicks Organ Factory as a pipe maker.  He worked as a welder during World War II, in the Evansville, IN ship yard.  He also worked in building and construction as a welder and lather. 

      He was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ and a member of Men’s Brotherhood.  He also sang in the choir until his eye’s failed him.

      He retired in 1982.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved the great outdoors.  He also enjoyed traveling. 

      He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Eleanor Krietemeyer, 2 brothers, Harold and Leonard Beichel.

      Survivors include his wife, a son, Douglas R. Beichel, Highland, IL, 1 granddaughter, Brittney Gillespie.

      Memorials may be made to Grantfork UCC or Grantfork Fire Dept.

      There will be a Graveside Service, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL.
