Flora C. Schatte, nee Grommet, 88 of Highland died Monday, May 14, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. She was born January 10, 1919 in Hecker, IL to William and Catherine, nee Neiser, Grommet. She married Wilbert "Wib" Schatte, March 21, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, and he preceded her in death May 15, 1977.
She is survived by three children, Marlene (Bruce) Grady, Missouri City, TX; Charles (Sue) Schatte of Highland; and Nadine (Tom) Freeman of Katy, TX; seven grandchildren, Kathy (Marty) Broughton; Stacy (Todd) Warren, Chris (Ashley) Grady, Thomas Freeman, Mandy Freeman, Nicholas Schatte, Andrea (Greg) Brummitt, and five great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Shannyn Broughton, Sophia & Olivia Warren and Shyann Grady.
Mrs. Schatte was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George and Martin Grommet.
She was co-owner and worked with her husband Wib at Schatte's Hardware for more than 35 years. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland; member of VFW and American Legion Auxiliary; past member of BPW; Hitz Home Auxiliary Board and Executive Board.
VISITATION: Thursday, May 17, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL and Friday, May 18 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church.
FUNERAL: Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. David Beebe officiating, with burial in Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL
