      Felton G. “Hap” Tschannen, age 94, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, IL.

      He was born October 16, 1918, in Highland, IL the son of Gilbert and Amanda (Nee Isert) Tschannen

      On September 10, 1949, he married Shirley (nee Buchmiller) Tschannen, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pierron, IL.

      He grew up on the family farm north of Highland and graduated from Highland Elementary and High School, Highland, IL.  After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Medic in Europe from November, 1942 until September, 1945.  After the war he was employed as a bartender at Rusty’s and Musso’s in Edwardsville, managed the bar at the VFW in Highland, worked for Jakel Mfg, and was a U.S. Postal worker for 18 years.

      He is survived by 1 son, Robert “Robbie” (special friend, Trish McKnight) Tschannen, Breese, IL; one niece, Candy (Dale) Rapien.

      He was preceded in death by, his father, Gilbert Tschannen; his mother, Amanda Tschannen; his wife, Shirley Tschannen; 2 sisters, Melba Storbeck, Esther Keilbach; 1 nephew, William Walter Storbeck.
