Emric A. Calvin Jr., 66, of Belleville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and love.

He was born on October 10, 1956, at Scott Air Force Base, IL, to Emric A. Calvin Sr. and Maxine (nee Hall) Price. Emric was a bright and talented young man. He attended Lebanon High School where he excelled both academically and athletically. His passion for mechanics and cars was evident from a young age, spending countless hours in his garage tinkering with engines and fixing his favorite Road Runner car, as well as any old school car for his family and community.

Emric was also an accomplished baseball player, known for his incredible pitching ability and lightning-fast throws. He was even scouted for the college team, a testament to his talent and hard work.

Emric's life was not without its challenges. He struggled with schizophrenia, but he never let it define him. Despite his illness, he remained a curious and intelligent person, always seeking knowledge and eager to share what he had learned with his loved ones.

In 2013, on his mother's birthday, Emric suffered a stroke that greatly impacted his ability to communicate and walk. Despite the challenges, he showed remarkable determination to live and worked tirelessly toward recovery. His positive outlook on life and bright smile earned him the title of a favorite patient on his hospital floor. Eventually, he was moved to Illinois to be closer to his mother, who continued to care for him.

Emric's love for God and his faith brought him peace and comfort throughout his life. He was a kind and honest person who never wanted to burden anyone, even in the midst of his pain and suffering. He faced his struggles with quiet strength and dignity, always finding reasons to smile and be grateful for the blessings in his life. Emric will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iola Calvin; father, Emric Calvin Sr.; his grandparents; several aunts and uncles.

Emric is survived by his mother, Maxine Price; stepfather, LaFarrell Price Sr.; 14 siblings; many nieces and nephews who he loved as if they were his own.

    John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

My beloved brother Emeric Calvin Jr. was a kind soul in whom the current world isn’t worthy. He lived his life enjoying doing things for others. This is the duty of man. Rest in peace my beloved brother.

A very kind and friendly person every time I encountered him. I have never seen him angry and truly enjoyed his presence. Never saw anything false in his actions. Sorry to lose him but he will be better. All prayers to him and his family.
