      Elvira Nagel-Vogt of Highland, IL, died on February 13, 2019 in Highland.  A memorial Mass will be held on March 29, 2019, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Church in Highland, IL.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Highland.  Meridith Funeral Home is in charge of services.

      Elvira was born August 18, 1924 in Salisbury, Missouri, and was the only daughter of Frank Charles and Theresa Anna (Gladbach) Nagel.  She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Salisbury, Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Missouri, and evening classes at St. Louis University.  Her employment included University of Missouri, Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital, Columbia and C.V. Mosby Medical Publishers, St. Louis, as a medical manuscript editor.

      She was the mother of four children, Sheryl (Frederick) Greene of The Woodlands, Texas, Walter A. Vogt, MD, Glennon G. Vogt, and Mark A. (Mary Beth) Vogt, of San Diego, California.  Her grandchildren are Michael (Natalie) Greene, Natalie (Dan) Huelsmann, Ryan Glenn and Delaney Rose Vogt.  Her great-grandchildren are Norah and Ella Huelsmann.  Walter A Vogt, MD and Glennon G. Vogt preceded her in death as well as her seven brothers and a nephew, Robert Nagel.  Many nephews and nieces and a special friend, Dale Montieth, survive her.

      Elvira moved to Highland from Columbia, IL, in 1993, purchasing a condominium, at Faith Countryside Village.  She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and in  earlier years St. Anne’s Altar Society, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxillary, and the Historical Society.  She had also volunteered at Latzer Memorial Public Library and St. Joseph’s Hospital Home Health Care.

      Memorials may be made as desired or as masses.
