    Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Ray, nee Meldrum, 82, of Collinsville, IL, born September 7, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, August 14, 2023.

    Betty loved her family beyond measure, taking any opportunity to gather and celebrate. She worked in the loan department for U.S. Bank for 20 years. In retirement, she loved traveling around the world with friends, and traveling in the U.S. by motorcycle with her husband, Rich. Betty also enjoyed spending endless hours working in the yard and was always eager to share that hobby with others.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes (nee Geppert) Meldrum, and her beloved brother, Daniel Meldrum.

    Surviving is her eternal soulmate and husband of 45 years, Richard Ray; brothers, William (Karen) Meldrum, Terry (Samantha) Meldrum; sister-in-law Susan (Daniel) Meldrum; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Marzano, Gina Westwood, Tina (Joseph) Durako; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryne) Sacheck, Megan (Eric) Howard, Ryan Westwood, Kyle Westwood, Janice (Alex) Hooper, Jared (Brittany Henry) Durako, Adam Durako, and Daniel Durako; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Simon Sacheck, Cooper Howard, Audrey and Roland Hooper, and cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were all near and dear to her heart.

    The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Southern Illinois and Brightly Senior Living, Glen Carbon for the care given to Betty.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

    Visitation: Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL.

    Funeral Mass: Wednesday, August 23, 2023, 11:00 am, at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL.

    Clergy: Rev. Michael Haag

    Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO

    Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

    Betty was a beautiful person inside and out. I’ll always remember her great sense of humor and how contagious her laughter was. She had the biggest heart. I’m sure she’ll be very sorely missed. Our deepest condolences to all of you. What a blessing to have had her in your lives.
