Eldon Dale Koechle, 78, of Lebanon, IL., passed away at home, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Eldon was born on October 6, 1942 on the family farm, the son of Harold and Oriole (Ort) Koechle of Nauvoo, IL.  He was a man gifted with many talents and known to his family as the “numbers” man, as he could quickly calculate almost any math problem. He could fix anything, enjoyed building things, and was always willing to use his time and talent to help others. He put everyone at ease with his joking, jovial manner. While his kids were growing up, he coached little league baseball and played Santa Claus for local children’s events at Christmas. He had many experiences, including melting gold and silver for Schaffer Pen. He retired from Consolidated Packaging after 40 years of service. He loved all things sports and after retirement, spent as much time as possible at the local fishing hole. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Koechle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judith Eilene (Drake) Koechle, Lebanon, IL.; three children, Carmen (Jay) Pittman, Robert (Cristie) Koechle, and Barbara (Matt) Boyles; six grandchildren, Wyatt, Ethan (Alisia), and Jesse Pittman, Chelsea (Ben) Wolters, Ashley (Jesus) Medina, and Ryan (Emma) Boyles; four great grandchildren, Lila & Elliott Pittman, Addison Wolters, Brooklyn Medina, (and was excited for the expected arrival of two more this year); one brother, David (Marcia) Koechle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made out to a hospice of your choosing.

Eldon’s wishes were to be cremated and later laid to rest with his wife after her passing.  No public services will be held.

      Meridith Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.
