      It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Elaine (James) Washburn, born June 2, 1956 in Mattoon, IL and passed away peacefully on June 11, 2020 at Texas Health Hospital near her home in Justin, TX. Elaine Washburn was born to Harold and Eleanor James of Effingham, IL. As a child Elaine loved to go to church, horseback ride and later attended Lake Land College for her education.
      Elaine loved the Lord and lived her life in pursuit of his will and goodness. In 1976 Elaine was wed to Ralph Washburn and they had four children; infant son, Brian Washburn, died in 1979, son Paul Washburn 40, daughters, Patricia Washburn 38, and Kimberly Washburn-Gilkey 35.
      Elaine was a beloved mother and hard working woman. Elaine and Ralph were divorced in 2003 after their move to Texas in 2000. Since that time Elaine dedicated her life to her three children and seven grandchildren, Ceanna, Jaida, Caylee, Kevin, Benjamin, Gabriella, and Cole. Elaine was loved and cherished by everyone around her. Her legacy she leaves behind is her dedication to her loved ones, her job at Kroger, and to the needs of others. Elaine's walk with the Lord and her belief in God is what kept her kind hearted and sweet natured. She will forever be remembered and never forgotten. Elaine Washburn knew how to love.
      Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eleanor James and infant son, Brian. She is survived by her children, Paul Washburn of Justin, TX, Patricia Washburn of Justin, TX, Kimberly (Ben) Washburn-Gilkey of Hickman, KY, brothers, Steve (Joan) James of Fountain City, WI, Sam (Sharon) James of Stanley, NM, Robert James of Roswell, NM, Kenneth James of Palmer Lake, CO and sister, Amy Mathis of Effingham, IL, 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
      A private graveside service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Cunningham Family Cemetery in rural Lancaster, IL with Pastor Jack Stoops of The Journey church of Effingham, IL officiating. Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home of West Salem, IL is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
