Edwin Clayton Merrick, Jr., known as JR, passed away on November 3, 2024 in Fairfield, IL. He was 40.
JR was born on April 17, 1983 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Edwin Merrick Sr. and Linda (McDowell) Merrick.
He worked as a welder. He was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church, in Lancaster, IL. He enjoyed welding, horseback riding, horses and training horses. He also participated in rodeos. He liked to hunt and fish, and visiting with friends. He loved spending time with his son.
JR is survived by his father, Edwin Merrick, Sr.; his son, Clayton Merrick Waters; and a brother, Lewis (Keisha) Merrick. He was preceded by his mother, Linda Merrick.
Services for JR Merrick will be held at a later date.

So sorry to learn of Jr. death. I didn’t know him but his dad is our nephew and am so sorry to hear this.

So sorry for your family’s loss of Jr, he will be missed. Will always remember whenever he would be at the horse barns in Albion with his grandfather Clayton, Marge, Lewis, Linda, & Ed. There was a lot of laughter and wonderful times was had. Everyone was treated like family. We will be keeping your family in prayers and thoughts, and hugs.
