        Edward L. Nesbit Jr., 80, of St. Charles, MO, passed away January 29, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

        He was born on December 9, 1941, in East St. Louis, IL to Edward L. and Lois G. (nee Beard) Nesbit. He married the love of his life, Paulette Wegman, on August 18, 1989.

        Mr. Nesbit owned multiple grocery stores, Nesbit Ham Company, and he was an owner operator. He was a Veteran of Vietnam, loved serving his country and a proud service member. He loved life, and his family was his life. He had a strong faith in God. He was a sportsman, loved to hunt, fish, and play golf with his grandchildren. He was the life of our family and could light up a room when he walked in. He was a great role model and loved by many. He will be dearly missed.

        He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Lois “Zippy” Nesbit; son, Michael Nesbit; brother-in-law, Jerry Hillyard; and nephew, Cory Hillyard.

        Edward is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Paulette Nesbit; children, Cathey (Greg) Larsen, Laura (Robert) Briddle, D.J. (Stephanie) Leach; siblings, Sharon Hillyard, Richard Nesbit, Patty Agne; nephew, Cody (Tonya Bauer) Hillyard; grandchildren, Kirby Whitworth Jr., Carrigan Whitworth, Cynthia (Brandon) Holten-Curl, Amber Holten, Elle Leach, Charlize Leach; three children from his first marriage, Penny Nesbit, Peggy Nesbit, Pamela Nesbit; and many loving friends.

        Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis.

        It is with great sadness that I learned of Ed’s passing. He was a wonderful co-worker as an owner-operator at Cardinal Transport.
