    Edward J. Kovach, 83, of Pocahontas, IL died August 25, 2009 at his residence.   He was born in Pocahontas on June 4, 1926 to Louis and Lena (Toth) Kovach and they are both deceased.  On December 24, 1947 he married Bernice Haberer at their home.

    He is survived by his wife for 61 years, Bernice Kovach of Pocahontas, two daughters - Connie (Joe) Whalen, Smithboro, IL, Karen (Doug) Fletcher, of Greenville, IL, four grandchildren -Susan (Jeremy) Hall - Smithboro, IL; Cara (Nick) Snow - Mulberry Grove, IL; Carley and Brady Fletcher - Smithboro, IL; five great grand children - Anna, Elly, & Caia Hall;  Haley and Catherine Snow; two brothers - Eugene (Marylee) Kovach - Highland, IL; Louis (Fay) Kovach, Pocahontas, IL; many nieces and nephews.

    Preceded in death by his parents and one brother - Elmer Kovach in World War II.   Edward served in the U.S. Army during World War II - South Pacific Theatre.   He was a laborer for a few years then went into business for himself as owner of a Shell Station from 1952 - 1981 in Pocahontas and 1982 - 1993 in Greenville.   He was also a Scoutmaster in Pocahontas for many years.

    VISITATION:  Thursday, August 27 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

    FUNERAL:  Friday, August 28 at 10:00 A.M. at Meridith Funeral Home with the Rev. David Trover, Pastor, First Umited Methodist Church, Pocahontas officiating and burial in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas.

    MEMORIALS:  Bond County Cyclones Baseball Team or Mulberry Grove Elementary School
