Edna Raymond Metzger (nee Iberg), born August 29, 1914, in Pocahontas, IL, died October 19, 2011 in Highland, IL. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Raymond, whom she married on June 28, 1935; second husband Oliver Metzger, whom she married on November 20, 1978; parents, John and Minnie (nee Zopf) Iberg, brothers Raymond, Sam, and Irwin Iberg, sisters Elva Zobrist and Irma Clayton; a brother and sister who died in infancy; and son-in-law, Patrick Clark. She had two daughters, Suzie (Pokie) Wildhaber, and Sherrie Clark; stepdaughter Melody (Gary) Swor; grandsons Sean Clark and Jud Metzger; and great-grandchildren Vivian Clark and Kobyn Metzger, who survive.
A life-long Highland resident, she and her first husband, Gordon Raymond, were instrumental in starting “High Town” at the Weinheimer Building in 1956, which was a teen dance held every other Saturday night for Highland and St. Paul High School students. An animal activist and pet lover, she was also very involved in the humane society and animal control for many years in Highland. Memorials may be made to Highland Animal Shelter or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
