    To the family of Dustin.

While my husband and I only knew Dustin from Beverly Farms, he certainly had an impact on our family. Our son Jason C. lives at Logan. I found myself grieving all week for your family, Jason, his housemates, and the Beverly Farm’s family. Dustin brought such joy to all.

When Jason, slipping on ice, broke his hip this past February, Dustin was there for him. He helped him back arm in arm. During his time of recovery, we got to know Dustin even better because our visits were more frequent.

A memorable moment was in our weekly Friday Skype with Jason, and I set the screen to interactive “under the sea.” Dustin joined in, popping his head in and out of the sea grass. I said he reminded me of the guy on Blue’s Clues. It was fun and we all had a good time over Skype. Imagine!

As a mother and guardian, sometimes I would become frustrated over situations I didn’t have control over, especially during the pandemic. Sometimes Dustin would hear the brunt of my frustration, however, he was always understanding and did what he could do to help.

He was also excited to have us meet his family at Family Weekend this past spring where we met you briefly at the equestrian bleachers.

We never really know the total person. We only knew a fraction of him for a relatively short time in comparison. It was apparent how Dustin loved all those he served.

Sometimes the measure of a man becomes most apparent when they are gone. Dustin, whose vocation brought him to work with the developmentally disabled, was a gift to the whole community. Even at my age, Dustin’s life makes me want to strive to be an even better person.

    Continued prayers for your family.
    RIP Dustin 🙏
