    Dorothy Irene Hicks, 92, of Cisne, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

    Dorothy was born February 28, 1930, at Cisne, IL, to Clarence E. and Sarah M. (Pennington) Lowe.  She married Ovid M. Hicks December 24, 1951, at Cisne, IL.  He preceded her in death January 26, 2001.

    Dorothy was a housewife and member of Round Prairie General Baptist Church at Cisne, IL.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and watching grandchildren’s ballgames.

    Dorothy is survived by two daughters Nancy (Monte) Carpenter and Doneta (Tim) Draper both of Cisne, IL; one son Gary (Beth) Hicks of West Salem, IL; eight grandchildren Joey (Dusti) Carpenter, Kendra (Jeff) Block, Amanda Foley, Kyle (Melissa) Hicks, Hunter (Danielle) Pogue, Clayton Draper, Hannah (Dylan) Bennett, Collin Draper, and eleven great grandchildren.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ovid Hicks, one daughter Kathryn Hicks, three sisters Faithie Beckel, Donna Lowe and Evelyn Weaver and two brothers Philip Lowe and Clifford Lowe.

    Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, 2022, 10:00AM – 12:00PM (noon) at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne, IL.

    Funeral service will be Saturday, August 20, 2022, 12:00PM (noon) at the Funeral Home.

    Burial will be in Cisne Cemetery.

    Memorials may be given to Round Prairie Church for Youth Camp and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    Nancy. Gary, Donita, your mom was a very sweet part of my growing up years at Round Prairie. Your dad was too. Loved to visit with them, they were always as kind as could be. May God bless each of you. Vera Weaver Hawkins

    It was saddening to hear of Aunt Dorothy’s passing. I do have a lot of good memories of visiting with her, and of course your dad, as we were growing up. I also regret that the distance has interfered with more visits and being able to attend today. Know that all of you are in our hearts and prayers. Love.
