      Donald R. Garcia, 65, of Troy, IL, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at his home.

      He was born September 1, 1958, in Denver, CO, to Albert Garcia and Francis (nee Manzanaros) Garcia. Don married his wife DeeDee on May 1, 1987.  In Edwardsville, IL.

      Donald was a culinary artist at heart. His passion for cooking was evident in every meal he prepared, turning simple ingredients into delicious feasts for his family. His love for gardening complemented his cooking, ensuring that his dishes were always fresh and flavorful. The kitchen was his sanctuary, a place where he expressed his love and creativity, bringing his family together over countless memorable meals.

      A true sports enthusiast, Donald was a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Rams, cherishing the time when St. Louis had a football team. Donald also cherished his roots and made frequent trips back to Colorado, to visit his extended family. These trips were filled with joy, laughter, and the comfort of being surrounded by loved ones.

      Above all, Donald was a devoted family man. His love for his children was unwavering, and he took immense pride in doting on his grandchildren. He was their biggest supporter, always present with a warm smile, a word of encouragement, and a loving embrace. Donald's family was his greatest treasure. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

      Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Garcia and Francis (Garcia) Soliz and stepfather, Jerry Soliz; along with siblings, Paul Garcia, Leonard Garcia, Karen Garcia.

      He was survived by his wife of 37 years, DeeDee Garcia; children, Stephanie L. Ochoa of Collinsville and Christopher (Cynthia) Garcia, of Fairview Heights; grandchildren, Bret Meade, Charlie Ochoa, Madelynn Cuvar, Benny Garcia; siblings, Velma Garcia, Lillian Espinoza, Denise Souders, Rudy Garcia; dear family friend and papa’s buddy Jerin Burton; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Don truly loved his extended family that he married into.

      Donnie asked that in lieu of any flowers a donation be made to Cardinal Glennon Hospital.

      A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
