    Donald R Bowen, 84, of West Salem, IL passed away on Thursday, November 30th, 2023 at his home.

    He was born September 2nd, 1939 in West Salem, IL to Edgar and Sarah Margaret (Hicks) Bowen.

    Don married his wife Jean on September 1st, 1961 in West Salem, IL.

    Don was a livestock and grain farmer and had previously been a semi-truck driver for Champion Labs for 33 years. He dearly loved watching over his cattle and hauling livestock. Don loved his family and adored his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting with family and solving the world’s problems with his coffee time friends. Don was a member of the Little Wabash United Methodist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Sarah Margaret Bowen and granddaughter Ashley Bosecker.

    Don is survived by his wife Jean Bowen, son Rob Bowen, daughters; Cheryl Ray and Marsha Bosecker, 2 grandchildren; Casey, and Darus, and great-grandchildren; Cooper and Ezra.

    Visitation will be held at the West Salem Zion Church on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery.

    So sorry to hear of Donnie’s passing. He was my buddy and we had many good chats through the years. He and I shared a love for pineapple upside down cake….and a love for Jesus . He will be missed.
