Dona Mae (Nee Rose) Smith, 89, of Highland, IL, formerly of Edwardsville, IL, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.
Dona was born April 10, 1931, in Alton, IL, to Gordon and Clementine (Nee Wallendorff) Rose. She was married to Dale Smith in Paducah, KY.
She was a 1947 graduate of Edwardsville High School. She worked as an insurance underwriter for many insurance companies in both Edwardsville and St. Louis. She retired in 2000 from American States Insurance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Clementine Rose; husband, Dale Smith; 2 sons, Dale Smith, Jr., Michael Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (John) Genteman, Highland, IL; son, Jeffrey (Sandy) Smith, Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith, Indian Shores, FL; five grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Indian Shores, FL, John (Jessi) Genteman, St. Peters, MO, Julia Genteman, Glen Carbon, IL, Steven Smith, Omaha, NE, Rachel Smith, Lincoln, NE; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Chicago, IL, Lexi Genteman, St. Peters, MO; brother, Gordon “Bud” (Sylvia) Rose, Jerusalem, Israel; sister, Susan (Fred) Sticht, Bethalto, IL.
