Delmar “Smokey” Kloss, 72, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Christian Northeast Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
He was born February 14, 1939, to Donald and Gertrude (nee Williman) Kloss, in Grantfork, IL. He married Bonnie Brown August 6, 1981 in Hawaii and she survives.
Smokey purchased the Meat Market from his father in early 1960’s, then he sold it and opened Kloss Furniture in 1976. He became an Oil Producer in 1980, and started developing Real Estate in 1987. In 1988, he started selling Real Esatate, he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Optimist and a Charter-member of Moose Club. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, card player, and bowler. He enjoyed having his friends and his family at his cabin at Hermann, MO.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Kloss, Highland, IL; 1 son and 2 daughters, Steven (Ceil) Kloss, Highland, IL, Becky (Steve) Ribbing, Highland, IL, Pam (Chuck) Frey, Highland, IL; 2 step-children, Stacey (Vernon) Dury, Hurst, IL, Richard (Carlyn) Zimmermann, Carbondale, IL; 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Donald (Nancy) Kloss, Jr., E. Lawn Meadow, MD, Danny (Rosemary) Kloss, Highland, IL, Linnette Nungesser Taylor, Edwardsville, IL, Lucille (Donald) Rutz, Highland, IL, 10 Grandchildren, Melissa (Josh) Missey, Mike Frey, Joshua (Amy) Kloss, Michelle (Jared) Goestenkors, Derek Kloss, Jessica (Mike) Armbruster, Brittany Kloss, Mallory Frey, Drake and Brock Dury.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gertrude Kloss, Sr.; and 3 sisters, Louise Schwarz, Lenora Rieke, Lorraine Dresch.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
