    The Honorable Delmar O. Koebel, 83, of O'Fallon, IL died February 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.  He was born in Lebanon, IL on January 30, 1926 to Oliver J. and Laura A. (Rieger) Koebel and they are both deceased.  He married Betty Faye Brammeier on July 8, 1950 in Oakdale, IL and she preceded him in death March 22, 1978.  He then married Harriet A. Chapple on June 12, 1982 in Fairview Heights, IL.

    He is survived by his wife, Harriet A. Koebel of O'Fallon, IL; Four (4) children, Michael (Gerlinde) Koebel, Lebanon, IL; Barbara (Rick) Nelson, Aviston, IL; Steven (Sue) Koebel, Lisle, IL; Beth Koebel, Pacific, MO; Two (2) Step-Children, Claudia (Kim) Hofer, Troy, IL: Nancy (Carl) Saltzman, Culver City, California.  Nine (9) Grandchildren, Christian Koebel, Lebanon, IL; Sabine (Stefan) Schuster, Linz, Austria; Bridget (Brian) Hitpas, Breese, IL; Brian Nelson, Aviston, IL; Dustin Nelson, Aviston, IL; Carolyn Koebel, Lisle, IL; Brian Koebel, Lisle, IL; Brian (Tonya) Loehring, Belleville, IL; Megan (Doug) Raymond, Troy, IL;  Three (3) Great Grandchildren: Caroline, Blake, and Grant; Also Two (2) Nephews and One (1) Niece.

    He was preceded in death by his Parents; one Son, John Koebel;  one Sister, Marjorie Denny, one Brother-in-Law, Orville Denny; one Niece, Bettina Bowen.

    He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  A member of St. Paul UCC, Lebanon, IL;  American Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, St. Clair Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Singers Society Lebanon, IL; Lebanon Lions Club; American Legion Post, O'Fallon, IL.

    Mr. Koebel practiced law 50 years and served three (3) of those years on the Bench in Belleville on the 20th Judicial Circuit.  Served as city Attorney for O'Fallon, Lebanon, McKendree College, Summerfield, and the SLM Water Commission.  Served as Justice of Peace in Lebanon in his early days.  He graduated from McKendree College with a Baccalaureate Degree, and attended Law School at Washington University, graduating in 1953.

    VISITATION:  4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 @ Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL and on Monday at the Church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

    FUNERAL SERVICE:  Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, IL at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Don Wagner, Pastor, officiating.  Burial in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.

    MEMORIALS:  St. Paul UCC, Lebanon, IL or McKendree University.
