  • Full Obituary

David Allen Harms, 81, of Bone Gap, IL passed from this earth to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 7, 1941, to Gilbert and Iva (Hocking) Harms, David was the youngest of three sons. David married Suzanne Rude on October 6, 1963, at the Bone Gap United Methodist Church.  Together they had three children: Eric (Krista) Harms, Melissa (Paul) Brock-Jones, and Meghan (Charlie) Abell. David’s six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were the pride of his life and brought him so much joy.

David was a life-long farmer and when asked about it, he would answer, “I’ve never worked a day in my life”, because of his love of farming. He was a true steward of the land, had a strong work ethic, and raised his children to understand the value of hard work. David was a quiet man but had a deep faith in God.  He was a member of Parkview Christian Church in Mt. Carmel.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Suzie, his three children, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his brother, Don (Jolene) Harms.

He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Leland Delmar Harms, and his parents, Gilbert and Iva (Hocking) Harms.

David’s visitation will be at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, IL, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 10:00 to 12:00 with the funeral beginning at 12:00.   Burial will be at the Bone Gap Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Heal Our Patriots. There will be Samaritan's purse envelopes available at the funeral home or you can give online with the following link: https://sampur.se/3VevB1o

So sorry to hear this news…a lifelong neighbor…always willing to help…I remember one harvest that the rain was coming and we were trying to get finished and he sent his grain trucks to our field so we could get all the crops out of the fields…just this past summer he mowed the right away to help Kati out at the farm…always a kind loving neighbor…he will be missed…prayers for the family in the days ahead ❤️
