I first met Darwin at Triad H.S. in the mid 1960’s-we were classmates. We played on the first Triad H.S. football team and became friends. Darwin had a great sense of humor and loved life and people. Several times he would serve as “Master of Ceremonies” of our 1968 Triad H.S. class reunions-he did a great job and would have his audience in outbursts of laughter-he was a natural speaker. I know that I can speak for the Triad class of 1968 and say “life well lived our friend”-you will be missed! And to his family and friends-our condolences ! All that knew him now have memories flashing through their minds. In the mid 1980’s Darwin invited me to join him and his friend Bill at the Cypress Lounge in Highland for lunch. After we ordered Darwin told the waitress to put the bill on one check (I thought maybe he was going to pay the bill). When we were finished the waitress laid the bill near Darwin and we all three leaned forward as to get our wallets and chip in. I came out with my wallet and Darwin and Bill came out with handkerchief’s and blew their noses! Darwin pushed the bill over to me and they both thanked me for lunch-that was Darwin Reding!

Darren, Chad, Carrie & Tara- your family has my deepest sympathy & condolences on your dads passing.

As you kids all know-we were very, very close friends for much of his life. I remember all the fun & great times we had as neighbors on Pike Dr East in Highland. Your dad & I experienced many great times together fishing, hunting & partying. There was never a ‘dull moment’ with your dads laughter, story telling & jokes- he kept us all laughing & the mood light. We both loved to pull pranks on one another. I look back & laugh at all the fun times we had together! There will never be another ‘Red Dog’- God threw away the mold after creating him! I will miss him greatly!!

I’m quite sure he’s up there now, sitting on Gods knee telling him jokes & stories about us.

May God bless & keep his soul

    Bill Corray- aka Capt. Bill

I haven’t known you for as long Darwin but the moment I met you, you became family to me. That was your gift, you are impossible not to love. You always put a smile on my face even when I didn’t feel like smiling. You taught me to be gracious and positive even when it felt impossible. I will forever cherish the memory of you singing Elvis at my wedding, watching a scary movie with you and you scaring me so bad and laughing at my over the top reaction, how you always thought of me when you got watermelon and cut me some too, laughing so hard while playing foosball because I was usually on your team. I just miss you so much already Dar but I know you are not suffering any longer. Rest easy Darwin. Until we meet again.

My Uncle Bob married Darwin’s mother Stella, many years ago when we were young. I remember good times with Darwin at family picnics but work took me away from the area and I had not seen Darwin for probably more than 20 years. Luckily, I went to a family wedding to years ago in November and had a great time renewing friendship with Darwin. He was a special guy and I will miss him greatly. My prayers and love to the family!

Played many rounds of golf with Darwin. Always a good time and really enjoyed watching him play. We, the Metro seniors golf members will always remember him.

I read this and it made me think of Darwin:
True friends are difficult to find, hard to leave and impossible to forget.
